Get in Touch!

The Albuquerque Fashion Incubator, a pending not for profit organization, is intended to provide industrial training to entrepreneurs while serving needy New Mexico citizens. The ABQFI is hosted by Fashion-Incubator; the internet’s skills and knowledge encyclopedia. The facility is a real, working model factory that provides sewing services to commercial customers. We are the only factory in the Southwest with a full time Pattern Maker, and an enviable list of equipment and amenities. This page (scroll down) lists all of the equipment housed at our start of the art facility.

Feel free to drop us a note (email protocol is one’s first name @abqfi.com). We are:

  • Kathleen Fasanella — President
  • Eric Husman — Vice President
  • Dustin Martin — Board Member
  • Jamie Hirano — Board Member

You can also call 505-877-1713 during regular office hours, send us a message using the form below or even, post a comment. We are open 5 days a week but please make an appointment if you would like to tour the facility. Our address is 410 Old Coors Dr SW, Albuquerque NM 87121. There is no signage and the number is obscured by awnings but we’re directly across the street from the El Bronco Restaurant (good eats!). If you plan to visit, please be scent free and wear closed toe shoes with no heels.

Congratulations on your new role in the fashion industry right here in the Duke City! I learned about you today while getting my hair done by Jude Gallegos. I work for the City of ABQ and am wondering if perhaps your instruction could make a class for either high school students or concurrent enrollment students participating in the Running Start for Careers Program. I’d love to meet with you sometime soon! Cheers!

    1. Well, I am late in hearing about you all…but better late than never I guess…I am a long-time Abq. resident–20 years this time after a spending 20 years away. I have a BS, MS, and PhD in Textiles and Apparel Design (Iowa State and Virginia Tech). I taught at Tech, Univ. of RI and Univ. of HI. Tech teaching was mostly illustration, flat pattern and draping, while at URI I taught manufacturing and textiles as well as design, flat pattern and draping. At UH I taught the apparel design studio class where senior design students designed a line of 4 garments that were produced and presented to the public in a Honolulu hotel fashion show (long before Project Runway).

Prior to my graduate work, I was employed at Panel Knitting factory in Floyd, Virginia, so I have across the board knowledge of apparel production from the “old days” when the Southeastern US actually manufactured textile and apparel products. In 1995, I began a business from my home doing arts ear but soon realized I couldn’t make a living off apparel in Abq. I switched to interior textile products because people are inclined to spend more on their homes than their clothes lol.

So this is my resume. I would be happy to help out in way I can…maybe teaching pattern making or draping if there is interest (I taught it as a UNM continuing ed class back in the 90s) I think it is exciting to see this interest in manufacturing again. Would love to talk to you about your plans…Sue

I moved to Albuquerque a few days ago, and a sewing friend in Michigan sent me the link to your website. I would love to meet you and talk about what you are doing! What a great idea!! I have been sewing clothes all of my life, and have a degree (1993) in Textile Management and Marketing from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science (now Philadelphia University). I am not a designer; I am definitely an administrator/manager. I am an expert sewer. Although I studied production sewing, I have not actually done it. At the moment I am unemployed, and would be willing to help in any way I can.

    Hello Kathleen,
Your site was sent to me by a friend, who is a weaver. My primary work is in fabrication for
interior designer. My buss has been in operation for 45 yrs. Prior to that time I have worked
in the garment industry making jackets for Brad Whitney in Monterey,California and various
Garments for Alan Beyer in Salinas California. This was a contract shop. i have always had an
interest in pattern making, however never had enough free time to follow up on that interest
until recently. Could not find enough information in regards to pattern making classes, costs
    ect.
Any information you could forward to me would be appreciated. I have no formal training in the field of manufacturing. Both my grandmother and mother were power machine operators.

Please feel free to call me if you wish more information. Have a great day! and good luck in your
    endeavors.

    Thank You for your time,

    Nancy Lee Adamson

  5. Hello,

What a great idea! My son, who is 14, is interested in fashion design. He has no experience but would be excited to learn. Would there be any volunteer opportunities for his age group? It would be a great opportunity to see a piece of the fashion industry. Please contact me, as I would be willing to volunteer, in some manner, as well.
